Dal 6 novembre un monumentale cofanetto ripercorre il tour del 1976, con 381 tracce, registrazioni originali e un’edizione in triplo vinile del concerto di Fort Worth.

Un viaggio nel cuore di una delle stagioni più intense della carriera di Bob Dylan. Il 6 novembre 2026, Columbia Records e Legacy Recordings pubblicheranno “The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings”, un progetto discografico dedicato alla seconda parte del tour del 1976.

Il cofanetto comprende 39 CD e 381 tracce, di cui 371 mai pubblicate prima (PRE-ORDER QUI), recuperate dai nastri originali. Accanto all’edizione deluxe arriverà un set da 3 LP contenente l’intero concerto del 16 maggio 1976 a Fort Worth, remixato dai nastri multitraccia originali. Ad anticipare la pubblicazione è “Going, Going, Gone”, nella versione registrata durante quella serata.

Bob Dylan e il Rolling Thunder Revue: il tour del 1976

Partito il 18 aprile 1976 da Lakeland, in Florida, e conclusosi il 25 maggio a Salt Lake City, il tour attraversò gli Stati Uniti con 27 date, quasi tutte documentate nella raccolta. Le registrazioni mostrano come gli arrangiamenti e l’intensità delle interpretazioni cambiassero da una serata all’altra.

Tra gli appuntamenti più significativi figura il concerto del 23 maggio 1976 a Fort Collins, collegato allo speciale televisivo “Hard Rain”. Il giornalista musicale Mikal Gilmore, autore di un saggio incluso nel booklet, ricorda in particolare la forza dell’esecuzione di “Idiot Wind”.

La seconda parte del tour vide Dylan riunirsi con Joan Baez per duetti come “Blowin’ in the Wind” e “Railroad Boy”. La formazione comprendeva Rob Stoner al basso, Scarlet Rivera al violino e Howie Wyeth alla batteria, oltre ai chitarristi Mick Ronson, Steven Soles, David Mansfield e T Bone Burnett.

Quest’ultimo ha ricordato il Rolling Thunder Revue come un’esperienza capace di anticipare l’energia del punk rock, sottolineando l’attitudine di Dylan a esplorare nuove strade musicali.

Le edizioni da 39 CD e 3 LP

Il box deluxe da 39 CD comprende 381 tracce, di cui 371 inedite, fotografie rare e note di copertina di Mikal Gilmore. L’edizione 3 LP raccoglie invece 22 brani del concerto di Fort Worth del 16 maggio 1976.

La pubblicazione si affianca a una serie di ristampe del catalogo di Dylan, tra cui “Self Portrait”, “Empire Burlesque”, “Knocked Out Loaded”, “Bob Dylan At Budokan”, “Dylan” e “Greatest Hits Vol. 3”.
